Grown in Hertfordshire

Alkor is the variety of spelt grown by organic farmers Stewart and Howard Roberts on their Hertfordshire farm.   Spelt is a grain grown by the Romans which remains genetically different from our modern wheat varieties.

This spelt has a wonderfully nutty flavour and especially valuable when fresh milled as it has a higher oil content than modern wheat varieties.  The oil content oxidises more rapidly once milled and using within a short period of time maximises the health benefits.  Spelt is often tolerated by those with gluten intolerances.
